In response to several suggestions about higher level classes for the salsa community in Aberdeen, La Rumba Latina & Latin Explosion will be running a number of monthly workshops for those who want to improve their style and technique, taking the dance more serious with all the fun involved. The workshops will be led by professional, qualified teachers with many years of experience dancing and performing salsa.

The workshop on Saturday 8th May will be led by Romina, our regular salsa teacher.

The structure of the workshop is as follows:

Intro to Salsa - 45 mins 

For absolute beginners and improvers with up to 20 weeks of salsa experience.

Music Interpretation - 1 hr 

This part is intended to help you increase the understanding of the movements to the rhythm of salsa and Latin beats, how to slow your movements down using body isolation and achieving different rhythms in different parts of your body whilst dancing. We will be using the clave, maracas, etc., and learning some basic moves to practice with.
 
Cuban Warm Up / Body Isolation and Reggaeton - 30 mins

Valuable to dancers of all levels
 

Beginners Rueda - 1 hr 

We will learn how to do the basic and universal moves, dame una , dame dos, dile que no, por abajo, bacilala, mirala, enchufe.  With these moves the workshop will focus on styling and mastering timing so it looks and feels amazing and synchronised. Almost all of these moves and styling techniques can still be used in your salsa dancing as they are not exclusive to Rueda.  Doing many styles of salsa and workshops will always  help you improve whatever level you are.

Time: 2:00pm to 5:30pm.

Cost: £30 per couple, £20 per person if paid online by the 6th May. Cash on the day £40 per couple, £25 per person.
